When you’re moving you need to not only see and be aware of what’s immediately near you but also what’s up ahead.The Word is a lamp to our feet illuminating what’s near and immediate.The Word is a light to our path, shining out for us over what’s ahead. We can know what’s happening now, we can know what to do now. We can also see and know what’s going to happen ahead of time, we can be prepared for what’s coming.The Holy Spirit is leading us in the Truth of the Word, showing us things already given to us, things already here, already happening now – Luke 12:12, and He’s also showing us things to come – John 16:13. He’s a confirmation of what already is and a foretaste of what is to come.
