And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout [all] the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a Jubilee for you; and each of you shall return to his possession, and each of you shall return to his family. Leviticus 25:10 (NKJV)
In ancient Israel after every forty nine years, in the fiftieth year, property like land and houses would go back to the original owner who had sold it. This was an act of mercy for the sake of those who had become poor and so had sold their family inheritance or possessions. Also, those who out of impoverishment had given themselves to be slaves had to go free.Today Jesus is our jubilee. He is our liberty now – Luke 4:18-19. In the Salvation that Jesus has accomplished for us we are free to return home to our place of acceptance, our position of sonship, and our possession of wholeness in the Father’s house. To accept Jesus Christ is to receive our jubilee, our liberty now.
