As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? Psalms 42:1-2(NIV)
Life in the natural, physical, emotional or sense realms no matter how abundant will always run out. Only in God the Everliving All Sufficient One is everflowing supply of life. Therefore, we always ought to be connected to God the inexhaustible source, to stay filled with the living water that keeps us not lacking in every area whether mental, emotional, physical or relational. See how Jesus elaborated this: John 4:13-14 (NIV)Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” Drinking from Jesus is being in an ongoing relational conversation with Him. The woman at the well drank from Jesus as she found out in that conversation with Him how He cared for her, how He believed in her. Jews had no dealings with Samaritans yet He was there sharing time and life truths with her. Jesus knew her shameful past and confused present but still believed in her. As she listened and talked to Him she was being reset, refreshed and restored. Being made whole herself from Jesus ministering to her, she went without being commanded to her home town and brought all the people to also come and drink. Like this Samaritan woman this is the very same way we drink from Jesus – taking in His acceptance of us, His care for us, that He believes in us.
